Linux Tip: Change default file handler in Gnome
Change Gnome Default File Handler
Fedora Core 4 ships with Evince as the default PDF file handler. I have installed the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader and wanted it to be the default file handler. To change the default file handling for PDF's all I had to do was find a PDF, right click, select Properties, click the Open With tab and select Adobe Acrobat Reader from the options.
You can adapt this for any file type. You can also add a program to the list of those available if, for some reason, the program you wish to use is not an option in the list
